Film Review: Total Recall

Starring Colin Farrell (‘In Burges’); Kate Beckinsale (‘Underworld Evolution’); Jessica Biel (‘The Illusionist’).
Directed by Len Wiseman, and written by Kurt Wimmer (Screenplay) and Mark Bomback (Screenplay).
The narrative of this film contains connotations from the action, adventure and scifi genres, and is targeted at audiences who are seventeen and older, given the amount of violence in the film. Total Recall is for viewers who are fans of action films as well as scifi given that the film takes place in the space age- giving a futuristic feel to the film. The elements that define this film as an action film are the explosions and car chases.
The overall narrative of the film tells the story of Douglas Quaid (Farrell) who lives with his wife, Lori Quaid (Beckinsale), who is revealed to be a secret agent assigned to monitor and eventually kill Douglas in the event that he starts to “Remember” his secret agent past which has been taken from him by means of a drug called Recall. The use of CGI (Computer Generated Images) adds to the action elements of the film. One last comment is that this film is not for those who prefer films with ‘real’ plots.
