DVD Review: Shallow Grave (1994)

Directed by Danny Boyle
Starring Kerry Fox (‘Angel At My Table’); Ewan McGreggor (‘Ghost Writer’) and Christopher Eccleston (’28 Days Later’).

This Psychological thriller tells the tale of multiple gruesome murders that take place in a flat rented by three friends- a doctor (Kerry Fox); an accountant (Christopher Eccleston) and a journalist (Ewan McGreggor)- and a suitcase of money owned by new flatmate, Hugo (Keith Allen), who commits suicide to escape the wrath of a couple of gangsters. Eventually, the money drives the three friends to insanity and they turn on each other- killing one; injuring one; and stabbing the other.
This DVD is a masterpiece that gets the viewer all wound up and flushed due to the intensity of the thrilling atmosphere within the film.
The viewer should be mindful that this film is targeted at an audience who are eighteen years or older, and should not allow viewers younger than eighteen to watch this film as they are at risk to become psychologically damaged in subtle ways as it is possible that ‘Shallow Grave’ could trigger copycat behaviour from viewers younger than eighteen.
