Film Review: Magic Mike

Starring Alex Pettyfer (‘I Am Number Four’); Channing Tatum (‘The Vow’); Matthew McConaughey (‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’); Matthew Bomer (‘Tru Calling’) and Joe Manganello (‘Behind Enemy Lines’).

This amusing masterpiece about a group of strippers in Los Angelies (LA) who work in a club entertaining women and flamboyant gentlemen by dancing to catchy music in a very suggestive fashion. A similar film to this is ‘Burlesque’ (2010) which has similar themes excluding the element of extreme nudity. The target audience of this film should be open- minded and non- conformist as well as non- judgemental.
Alex Pettyfer’s performance in this film is immaculate compared to previous performances in other films such as ‘I Am Number Four’ (2010); ‘Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker’ (2008); ‘Beastly’ (2011); ‘Tormented’ (2009). Although he is a good looking guy, some of his previous performances have been a bit dry although his good looks and deep brown eyes make up for this.
Channing Tatum’s performance within this film as the lead role as Magic Mike is dazzling which indicates his talent as an actor.
One last comment that I would like to make is that the soundtrack for this film is amazing and foot- tapping music such as “It’s Raining Men” by Aretha Franklin and The Weather Girls.
