3 Minute Shoots continued 10.08.2011

I have just completed the first of three 3 minute films in which I have assisted and will later produce as I am doing producing as one of two major subjects (the other being Script-writing). The shoot took place in Plumstead, Western Cape, and the location was a very nice looking house owned by a friend of the shoots director Jade Morris. My role on this shoot was to be an Assistant Producer as Jade already had a Producer assigned to her, However, due to lack of interest and attendance at production meetings, the producer was no longer part of the shoot which meant that either I would have to pick up where the producer left off or Jade would have to take on the role herself as well as direct. I therefore ended up being an AD (Assistant Director) as Jade took on the role of producer.
The crew were of the following:
Director/ Producer: Jade Morris
DOP: Toto Dzingwa
Editor: Rouvan Matinka
AD: Liam Nugent
AC: Wilbe "Bubbles" van Niekerk
The cast consisted of the following City Varsity actors:
Siyasanga Nkata
Denzil Peterse
The shoot was estimated to be less than 12 hours in duration but due to unforeseen schedule changes, the shoot lasted for well over 12 hours (15 to be exact). Despite this, the entire crew and cast worked well and in harmony with one another with the sole aim of wanting to get the job at hand done and dusted. However, an off- putting factor was the cold experienced during the exterior scenes as there was alot of standing around which didn't help in trying to keep warm. Eventually, after many takes, we got enough footage for the editor to work with in post production. We then dismantled the shoot and moved in doors to continue (with interior scenes). Once set up, we continued with the shoot and pushed ourselves to get the project done.
Eventually at 06:45 (after we had done a shot of the early morning), Jade called a wrap and we dismantled the shoot and headed out.
