City Varsity: FAP- The Devils Backbone ('El Espinazo Del Diablo')

Starring: Marisa Paredes; Eduardo Noriega; Frederico Luppi.
This film is a must for horror fanatics. The Devils backbone is a spanish film also known as 'El Espinazo Del Diablo' and it tells the story of Carlos (Fernando Tielve), a 12 year old boy who senses the presence of an unseen in habitant in the orphanege that he is left at by his father jusr before world war two begins (1939). The inhabitant, who is the restless spirit of a boy, Santi (Junio Valverde) known as 'the one who sighs', visits Carlos and leads him to the location, an undergtound cellar beneath the orphanage, where he was once murdered and left to die. Carlso soon discovers, with the help of fellow orphan Jaime (Inigo Garses), that it was the caretaker and handyman of the orphanage, Jacinto (Noriega), who murdered Santi, and they plot revenge against him. By instruction of Santi, Carlos amd Jaime lure Jacinto to the cellar where they stab him with pointed wood rods. On the verge of death, Jacinto falls into the pool in which Santi drowned, and the spirit took his own revenge on his murderer... This film is a great tale of betrayal; tragedy and consequence with a touch of the supernatural. It is thoroughly enjotable!
